A Bit About Me
Catriona Smith is a Scottish artist, currently based in South Australia, who has developed a multifaceted artistic practice spanning circus, puppetry, photography and community arts. Over the last 10 years they have worked as both a performer and events worker, contributing to the development and advocacy of the Scottish circus community and building events across the world.
At its core Catriona’s work is about presence; the ephemeral act of performance, the patience of craft and the stories that emerge when movement and making intersect. She’s inspired by ritual, community, co-creation and the celtic mythology that she grew up with. Drawing on time spent studying Imagineering in the Netherlands, her work includes an element of immersion and playfulness. While in Australia, her background in live performance has evolved into a practice centred on puppetry, making and analogue processes.
